It’s easy to get lost among all the new content that we are around everyday. Throughout the day I usually find through many different ways (Twitter, RSS and what not) tons of articles and blog posts that I would like to read, but can’t do so right then and there. That’s why apps like Instapaper, Pocket and Readability exist, so that you can save articles for later without getting them lost in the sea of content out there.

But having an account with each of these services can get pretty confusing, and even if you only use one of them, using it in your browser is not always convenient. Today we’re reviewing Words, an app that can help you access and keep those articles that you bookmark, directly in your Mac. It’s especially interesting now, as it’s the only way to read Instapaper offline on your Mac now that the former Read Later app has been turned into the new Pocket for Mac. And, we’ve got 8 free copies for our readers to try it out, so keep reading!

Our giveaway is now closed, and for once, everyone who entered won a copy of the app! How awesome is that?

Have you ever been frustrated by the lack of a numpad on your Macbook or Apple wireless keyboard? There’s not many good ways to put one into a laptop, and I for one like the Apple wireless keyboard’s size. But during tax season, or any other time I need to run though a lot of numbers, I sometimes wish I had a handy little numpad on the side.

Earlier this month, I got an email from developer Yi Lin, letting us know about their newest app: Numeric. Numeric is a simple calculator app that turns your Magic Trackpad into a multi-touch numpad. Just drag your mouse cursor to the app, then tap on your touchpad at the spot the number or function should be, and it’ll be entered in the calculator.

It’s not perfectly easy to use, at least at first, and I found myself hitting the wrong numbers more than not. But after a few minutes of playing with it, I found that I could reliably run through simple calculations just by tapping my fingers on the touchpad, and it definitely felt easier to use than the built-in Calculator app. It reminds me of Flutter, by using your Mac’s hardware in new and unique ways, and I definitely found Numeric fun to use.

Tweet To Win a Copy of Numeric

If you’re dying to try out turning your touchpad into a multitouch calculator, you can grab a copy of Numeric from the App Store today for just $0.99. If you can wait just a bit, though, we’ve got 30 (yes, thirty) copies of Numeric to giveaway to our readers!

If you’d love to win a copy of Numeric, just click the link below and send out the resulting tweet (or just copy and paste), then leave a comment below with a link to your tweet, just as in most of our giveaways.

Earlier this year we reviewed Gemini, the duplicate finder, and came to the conclusion that it was a pretty great app. It worked incredibly well at finding any duplicated files on whatever disk you threw at it. That’s not to say it didn’t have its faults, but the folks at MacPaw have worked hard on flattening out the creases and have produced a great free update to their beautiful app.

Let’s take a look at the new features in Gemini, and see why it’s still one of the best ways to clean up duplicate files from your Mac. Plus, we’ve got 5 copies for our readers, so keep reading to see how to enter our giveaway!

Bundles are a great way to get a ton of new apps for a great price. I’ve gotten several of the apps I use all the time, including Billings and WriteRoom, from bundles, and recently picked up some great new games and soundtracks from the latest Humble Bundle. The Humble Bundle is especially neat since you can pay just what you want, and this week, there’s a great new bundle with apps to help you be productive on your Mac that works the same way.

Our friends at StackSocial are running their Name Your Own Price Mac Bundle this week, which is one of the best deals we’ve ever seen for Mac software. You can get 6 great apps for any price you want, and if you beat the average price others paid for the bundle, you get Forklift 2, Typinator, and MacFlux 4 as well! Best of all, 10% of your bundle price goes to charities such as the EFF and Charity:Water.

All the goods in the bundle!

The Name Your Own Price Bundle is a great deal already, but we’ve got an even better deal for you. StackSocial gave us 10 of the full, beat the average price bundles with all 9 apps for our readers! You just might get the whole bundle for free!

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to fill your Mac with duplicate photos? If you’re using a Mac with an SSD, such as a MacBook Air, you’ll notice it quickly, but even if your space requirements aren’t as stringent, it’s still frustrating to have to browse through duplicate photos.

That’s what’s exciting about PhotoSweeper. It’s a nicely designed app that takes the pain out of sorting and removing your duplicate pictures. It uses 5 methods to find duplicate photos, even ones that have been edited or saved in other apps. Then, you can preview photos together to decide which one to keep. It’ll make organizing your photos easier than ever.

Earlier this year, our team gave PhotoSweeper a 9 out of 10 in our review, and found it to be a great way to reduce the space pictures are taking up on your hard drive. That’s why we’re excited to have 25 copies of it to giveaway to our readers!

Keeping up with your bills can be so difficult, and it can be rather stressful to know how badly one missed bill can affect you. That’s why Chronicle is such an exciting app. It’s designed to make it easy to remember to pay your bills, with push notifications to make sure you don’t forget, and an integrated browser so you can pay bills without even leaving the app.

Chronicle has been recently updated with retina graphics and more. We love it in our latest review, and think you’ll love it too. That’s why we’re excited to have 5 copies to giveaway for free to our readers!

Our giveaway is now closed, and congrats to Dimitrios Savvopoulos, timlou, and Rafta for winning a copy of Scrawl! Be sure to stay tuned for our upcoming giveaways in the future!

We’re always looking for better ways to take notes. There’s so many things to think about, Post-it notes just don’t cut it, and even Mountain Lion’s built-in Notes app doesn’t fit what most of us need. We need a simple place to put notes and quickly find them again, no matter where we’re working.

Scrawl is a great app for that. It’s a note taking app that lives in your menubar, one we were excited about when we reviewed it earlier this year. Since then, it’s gotten even better, with iCloud integration, native keyboard shortcut and Share Sheet support, and more. It’s a great way to quickly jot down notes in your menubar and find them whenever you need them.

Scrawl normally costs $1.99, but we’ve got 3 copies to giveaway for free to our readers. If you’d like to win a copy, just leave a comment below telling us why you’d love to start using it. For an extra credit, share the giveaway on Twitter, Facebook, or App.net, and then include a link to your update in your comment, and you’ll get two entries in the giveaway.

Our contest will close on midnight Monday, September 3rd, so hurry and get your entry in!

Our giveaway is now closed, and congrats to @Poporinful, @kgoworek, and @tmcalvin for winning a copy of Slidevana!

Have you ever struggled to find the perfect slide layout to show your business concepts, research information, marketing plans, and more in a simple, easily understandable format? Whether you’re a Keynote fan or a PowerPoint devotee, it’s often easier to spend more time tweaking your slides’ design than actually researching and putting together the info you’re supposed to be presenting.

That’s where Slidevana comes in. Their team has build what they call “the ultimate presentation toolkit”, designed to take the pain out of designing slides and help you focus on presenting your message in a clear way your listeners will understand. It includes slide designs for every business concept you’ll need to present, lists, charts, and tables, to layouts that communicate complex business concepts such as timelines, architectures, sales funnels, and common frameworks. Slidevana’s vast array of layouts means that creating a presentation is as easy as copying the perfect slide and pasting the content that captures your message.

Mac users have the choice of using Apple’s Keynote app for beautiful, cinematic presentations, or the industry standard PowerPoint, both of which are great options for making presentations. Slidevana is designed to work great in both Keynote and PowerPoint, and you can either buy it for the app of your choice or get the Slidevana bundle for $99 that includes all of their slide designs for both Keynote and PowerPoint. Best of all, though, we’ve got 3 Slidevana bundles for our winners, so you could get started making better presentations for free!
