We spend an awful lot of time discussing applications and software on Mac.AppStorm, and today we wanted to take a slight departure to investigate a few physical Mac setups. After all, you need a relaxing and inspiring environment in which to use your computer!
Our roundup will take a look at 50 visually inspiring, gorgeous Mac setups. Some are very minimal, others are wonderfully cluttered. They may not all use the most powerful Mac hardware, but will hopefully give you some great ideas for improving your desk and workspace. Enjoy!
Further Inspiration
I hope you’ve enjoyed this collection – I always love taking a look at where and how other people work. Here are a few links for further inspiration and some brilliant workspace setups:
- Shawn Blanc’s Sweet Mac Setups – Several of the examples here are from Shawn Blanc’s series. A brilliant set of articles for understanding why people use the hardware and software they do.
- Simple Desks – A collection of minimal workspaces, curated by Pat Dryburgh. There’s some wonderfully “zen” content here.
- Minimal Mac – Another regular resource for minimal workspace tips and examples
We’ll be inviting you all to submit a photo of your own workspace later this week, so stay tuned for more information!

:)
strictly ok. wasn’t as wowed as i hoped i would be. but great to see the best in one place!
The most glaring omission: http://shawnblanc.net/2009/07/appleyard-mac-setup/
:)
Nice collection… just wanted to share mine as well (recently finished). http://bit.ly/9v6AYB
Wow, I’m incredibly honored to be listed here among those Mac users I look up to (and whose setups I admire). Thanks, guys!
Ohhh my! Some of them are truly awesome! Now I’m wondering how can I make my office awesome too :x
I don’t get it. These are just ‘desks with Macs on them’.
Maybe I’m seeing it wrong, maybe these are ‘Macs on desks’… Hmm, still nothing.
Let me then try to paraphrase what you’re saying – if you have a Mac, and you’ve placed it on a desk, then you have realised an ‘inspiring, awesome, stylish Mac setup’. I never new it was that easy.
Seriously guys, this is nonsense.
Hooo amazing work stattion !
wow – nice one
Very neat! Lots of IKEA furniture in there.
Also, did anyone notice Jay Torres’s Geek Cup? I happen to have the exact same one and I know for a fact that it is made by Microsoft! :)
Plenty of inspiration. Thanks for the collection. Dare I present mine – http://bit.ly/ds4EKL
And here’s my Mac setup http://www.flickr.com/photos/garcya/4470723367/in/photostream/
You forgot mine! :P

Makes me realize how messy my desk is!
Most of them is pretty standard isnt it?
A well, i like my iMac and Mac Mini Server setup:

Yummygum Office – my personal fav.
Thanks a lot for the kind words! Do you have a minimal & clean office yourself?
Oh, why these guys need so much Macs? One Mac mini is enough for me :)
Thanks a lot guys, for featuring our office! Some of you guys have awesome offices!
BTW, if you like can view the process and more pics of our office on our website: http://www.yummygum.nl/blog/minimal-mindset-in-de-yummygum-office
Wow, that was extremely overrated.
The “Bamboo”-Workspace looks awesome! Does anyone have a link to the Bamboo-Wallpaper? Thanks!
Ok, so check setup are room (me and my girl) ; )

Best from Poland,
Some are nice, but the list was still a bit disappointing. Most of the setups are neither inspiring nor awesome or stylish, except you have never seen a Mac on a desk.
You can make it stylish all you want, doesn’t make it any less useless or overpriced junk.
Get a real computer, Macfags.
Great post David and some lovely looking workstations. We have some lovely design workspaces on our website too (including yours!!) – http://www.wherewedesign.com.
They are more workspace rather than workstation, but you can get some good inspiration! Thanks
Another reason I hate Apple computers… ¬^¬ :p
Awsome!
Holy…. :-P
Don’t forget Danny Choo’s desk. :)

Same computer different desk.
How is this supposed to inspire me?
Some fantastic setups here. Really inspiring!
Wow these pictures make me want a Macbook even more! And I just bought a home PC a month ago. XD
Some of these I thought were pretty cool however, some of them were completely boring. Like fintan. There’s nothing unordinary about that. Nothing surprisingly cool. I don’t think that those should go on here….
