  • Ha

    starcraft 2 may be?

    • Max

      Yes!

  • Mike

On steam I would recommend Team Fortress 2, it’s lots of fun and free to play.

  • George

How many first person shooters need to be on a list like this? I would have gotten rid of at least one of them to make way for The Witcher.

    • George

Oh, and Portal 2 AND Portal Bundle? Why have the same game on the list twice?

  • Bart

tomb raider: underworld is already available at Mac App Store

  • http://www.geschichtendose.de Teo

Where did you buy Minecraft for 27 $? The price on minecraft.net is just 19,95€ which is about 22 $.

  • http://www.bluenotesentertainment.com Kerry

You missed Supreme Commander 2. You have to purchase it from Deliver2mac.com and it will unlock the steam version for the mac.

    • http://htrdesign.net Rodrigo Leon

It was not at the time this was written.

      • Rudy

Is it really better/worth it to correct someone in the discussion area, rather than just update the article?

    • http://htrdesign.net Rodrigo Leon

Sadly, writers aren’t able to edit articles after they are published.

      • matthewguay

I just got the article updated ;)

  • http://www.BattleFleetGame.com JJ

What about “Battle Fleet” ? yes, it’s an indie game but if you like strategy then it’s a really cool new twist on the genre. Ok, I’m biased as I developed the game :)

  • Nicholas

Battlestations: Pacific is really good. So is Mafia II. Company of Heroes is sweet as well. Great list though!

  • Mike

    Starcraft 2!!

  • Burgers

    I think you missed Starcraft

  • Oliver

Most of those weren’t “hardcore” per se, but still a good list of games. I’m off to buy FIFA 12! (:

  • Richard Liu

Diablo III for hardcore ??? LMAO ! That game can hardly called itself an “RPG” !
For anyone who’re interested, take my words: WAIT FOR EXPANSION.

  • http://www.ginoorlandi.com/ Gino Orlandi

I was really disappointed with Diablo 3. I think they lost a lot of what made the original games great, but the gameplay is fun and the graphics are great.

  • Dennis

I love Diablo 3, and this comes from a hardcore Diablo 2 player. Works awesome on my MBP!

  • http://www.stom-design.com StOM.

You guys missed the most addictive game ever: Football Manager (2012)!

It’s a great managing game which doesn’t need a great amount of attention when playing. I have it open almost all the time and so now and then move on a couple of days, trying to set up some transfers, finding staff, messing with my tactics and ofcourse… playing matches!

Must buy for every soccerfan. The community behind the game is huge and very very passionate.

And from a designers perspective: the game has some great UI also.

  • jesper

Galcon Fusion! Best game on the app store.

  • lol

    wait, hardcore MAC gamers??!!?
    1. mac gamers dont exist.
    2. mac HARDCORE GAMERS?!?!?! ROFLMAAOAOAOAOA
    3. only 10 games are good on this list… the rest is trash…
    4. buy a pc… you CANT game on a mac

    • Lol to you

Let me tell you why your wrong:

      1. Yes, mac gamers don’t exist. There are only Gamers. You classify a gamer by the games he plays, not the platform he uses;
      2.Whatever man;
      3. Well, thats just like, your opinion, man…;
4.Some of us use macs because of our work and would like to use it for gaming sometimes. Not everyones rich enough to have both a gaming and a working computer. So what wrong with using the mac for a bit gaming? Stop being an elitist about gaming platforms. There is nothing funny about mac jokes, besides your stupid hatred for a material object.

      Nice list btw…

    • Tanner Britt

I want you to look at a Mac Pro and tell me that we can’t game. We can run bootcamp, but sometimes we don’t want to reboot to switch. Also sorry but Mac OS x is much higher quality than windows.
