MacHeist Bundle 2009

Recently, MacHeist announced the applications to be included in their MacHeist 3 bundle. MacHeist is a Mac software reseller with a twist. They offer games and puzzles called “heists”, where you can win free software and gather discounts off their bundle.

Not only do they offer Mac apps at a significant discount, they donate 25% of the proceeds to charity. Additional apps are ‘unlocked’ within the bundle as more are sold, with arguably the best applications only being unlocked at the last minute.

This year, a wide variety of software is included – there’s something for everyone, and you can bag a fantastic deal. The whole suite of apps costs $39, and this post will take you through the basic features each piece of software on offer.

Deal. Worth for Espresso and WireTap Studio alone.

    • http://russrenshaw.com Russ R.

Worth it for World of Goo and WireTap if you’re like me and haven’t picked those up. iSale is pretty sweet too. I’m hoping that the sales crack $400,000 for charity because I’m super curious about BoinxTV.

      • http://bohea.co.uk dix-huit

I would be interested in iSale had I not already shacked up with GarageSale.

  • choise

“The Hit List” is coding a iPhone App. Then it can be a good alternative for “Things”

  • Andrew

Everyone think that “The Hit List” and “Espresso” will definitely become available? Are there apps that could remain locked?

    • Joseph Waterman

In previous MacHeist’s, all apps have always been unlocked…they’ve even adjusted their unlock numbers to ensure that they are. All the apps will be unlocked, without a doubt.

  • http://otherskies.net Kim

You might want to take Big Bang Board Games off the list; it was an early buyer bonus for the first 25,000 bundles and is no longer available.

  • http://www.designify.ca Michael J. Young

I thought Espresso was included only if they raised a certain amount of money for charity. Somebody please prove me wrong ;)

    • http://www.banzaidesign.nl Thomas

Well, it’s part of a challenge. I’m not sure if that has been announced already.

Anyway, I’ve given in as well, for Espresso and World of Goo.
But of course my main reason to give in was the charity!

  • http://www.elementalmedia.info Stan

Yeah, got it already. World of Goo is a sweet surprise. I went a bought it mostly anticipating the Espresso unlock, But these are valuable to me: Little snapper, Sous Chef, PhoneView, Wiretap Studio but Seems like Kinematic can be very helpful for quick object rendering like software boxes, quicker than Illustrator.

I bought the bundle when it became available. I think there’s pretty much something for everyone in this bundle, so it’s pretty cool. The main draw for me is Espresso, no doubt. But other awesome apps for me are LittleSnapper and WireTap, and I think I’ll enjoy Phoneview also since I’m an iPhone 3G owner.

  • http://www.curtismchale.ca curtismchale

I got it and word of Goo is great. My wife loves Sous Chef. I really want Espresso though and am getting concerned that it may not be unlocked. Would be super disappointed if it stayed locked and would have to think seriously about getting anything from macheist again. Really if it didn’t have espresso I wouldn’t have bought it.

If you would like to help me get more apps, please, buy the bundle via this link:

    Thank you!

  • http://adrian-rodriguez.net Adrian Rodriguez

I have bought the bundle this year for the first time. I bought it mainly for Espresso, but loved that Little Snapper, and World of Goo were included.

The only mishap right now is that sales have slowed down dramatically, and Espresso does’t seem like it’s going to be unlocked.

    • http://www.minimamente.com miniMAC

I totally agree and I hope unblock Espresso, although I imagine it is almost impossible at a distance of 7 days.

  • Barry Wiseman

As soon as Kinemac and Wiretap were announced, I bought it- I think I was within the first few hundred to buy… I think it’s a foregone conclusion that all the apps will be unlocked. If they aren’t they are endangering any chance they have of doing this again next year. Also, with the addition of the question mark on the homepage, we’re surely see something else added to entice further purchases. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they added a game or two last year.

    • http://davidappleyard.net David Appleyard

I agree with Barry, in that I’d be very, very surprised if all the applications weren’t unlocked. They’d be really jeopardizing future sales, and would disappoint a whole load of people. That said, I imagine they’re perfectly within their rights not to release every app.

      Fingers crossed!

  • Rickey

I bought the bundle just for SousChef, LittleSnapper, iSale, WireTap Studio and for the chance to get Espresso. I hope we reach $400K!

  • http://www.cuby.co.nr Cuby

Sounds like a pretty impressive deal. I’ve always wondered how MacHeist can be legal though? It seems pretty legit, but it’s just almost too good to be true, especially when often you can get apps for free by solving missions…

    • http://www.curtismchale.ca curtismchale

Hey the developers agree to it. They don’t go in blind. I guess they make the profit on volume or customers getting the app and then staying with it through upgrades. Mac Break Weekly did interviews with developers both on the hate and love side last year.

  • http://www.brand-o.net Brando

I bought the bundle for iSale, Wiretap and Acorn. Nice additions are Eventbox and World of Goo. I hope to see Espresso unlocked.

I bought the MacHeist last year because it included WriteRoom but right now I haven’t bought it yet because the only two interesting programs for me are The Hit List and Espresso. If these won’t be unlocked there is no reason for me buying it unfortunately.

Good day! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
