If you’re reading this article then in all likelihood you spend a significant amount of time on your Mac, whether for work or play. However, while the increasing digitization of the modern world has led to real tangible benefits such as unparalleled communication, the easy spread of ideas and, of course, Lolcats, there is a more harmful side to heavy computer use and that is the effect it can have on our health.
These health risks often present themselves with issues such as back pain, RSI (or repetitive strain injury) and an increased risk of cardiovascular problems. In an ideal world, we’d simply not work so much and go outside and enjoy some exercise but since this is not always possible, there’s Time Out Free.
You know how everybody says you’re supposed to take about a short break from the computer every hour if you want to keep your sanity? Chances are you’ve heard of this but don’t really practice it. Time moves differently while you are working on a computer, and sometimes it’s hard to keep track of how long you’ve been in front of the screen.
Today we are reviewing an app called BreakTime that reminds you of when you are supposed to take breaks from the computer. But how well does it work at keeping you away from the computer once you have those scheduled breaks? Let’s see.
Although we usually spend our hours reviewing applications from others here at AppStorm, next week we’ll be doing something slightly different! We’ve developed a delightfully simple app for freelancers, called “Unwind”.
Unwind encourages you to take regular breaks from working at your machine, with a simple countdown timer and a relaxing environment to enjoy during your time away from work. We have some soothing music, and beautiful photos from Envato’s upcoming photo marketplace.
It’s a fun little utility for Mac-using freelancers, and we can’t wait to share it with you next week. To secure your copy, all you need to do is join the AppFanatix newsletter! We’ll be sending out an email to all our subscribers on Monday with details on how to download their free copy of Unwind.
AppFanatix is already enjoyed by over 6,000 people, and it’s the best way to stay up-to-date with the latest developments at AppStorm, receive fortnightly deals on fantastic software, and hear about promotions such as our Freelance Mac App Bundle!
