Old Competition Post

We have another great competition for you this week, offering the chance to win one of five licenses for the excellent ColorSchemer Studio!

ColorSchemer Studio makes it fun, fast and easy to find the perfect palette for your next creative project. Whether you’re designing a web site, magazine layout, picking wedding colors, or painting your living room, get your colors right the first time with ColorSchemer Studio.

It’s a really versatile piece of software, and one that we reviewed last year. ColorSchemer is well designed, fun to use, and it takes the anxiety out of coming up with effective and professional color combinations.

Entering the competition is really easy. All you need to do is leave a comment below, letting us know what you’d like to design a colour scheme for!

The competition will run for one week, and I’ll pick five winning comments at random on Thursday, 31st March. Best of luck, and why not take a look at ColorSchemer Studio on the Mac App Store while you wait for the results?

Thank you to everyone who entered our competition to win a copy of the excellent ColorSchemer Studio. It would be great to give you all a license, but unfortunately we had to pick three winners.

The results are in, and I’m pleased to let you know that we’ll be sending a license to the following three commenters:

  1. Syphadius
  2. DeliXe
  3. Ethan Wright

Congratulations to you all, and stay tuned for another competition coming soon! You can follow us on Twitter, or subscribe to our RSS feed to be notified of new giveaways.

If you’re a designer, working with colour is a daily task. Sometimes it can be a real pleasure, but on other occasions a piece of software to help would be much appreciated! Last week we reviewed ColorSchemer Studio 2, a great app for coming up with effective and professional color combinations.

I’m pleased to announce that we have three full licenses to give away to a few lucky readers. Entering is really simple – all you need to do is leave a comment, letting us know which feature in ColorSchemer 2 is your favourite. To find out what’s included in the new version, just head over to the ColorSchemer website and take a look at the range of features on offer.

Best of luck, and we’ll be announcing the winners on Monday 18th January!

Let me say right at the outset that I’m not an obvious choice for reviewing this application. I’m not a designer, and I don’t currently work on maintaining any websites; I have little use of software for working out effective color schemes in my day-to-day life and work. These facts might make me either entirely the wrong person to assess ColorSchemer Studio 2, or just the right guy.

I used to be involved in running the website of a big local authority, and I have seen first-hand the damage that can be done by untrained eyes when the thought arises “Wouldn’t it be nice just to add a little splash of color to this page?” With ColorSchemer, this needn’t be such a big problem any more.

This is a really clever app that simplifies the work of coming up with effective and attractive color combinations for websites or any screen design work. You don’t need to be a professional designer to appreciate its great features or to find it useful whenever you do need to work with colors.
