Worried about your Mac or iOS devices getting lost or stolen? Worry no more. With Hidden, you’ve got the theft protection all your devices need — and it’ll only cost you pennies per month with our exclusive discount.
Hidden is a brilliant theft protection system that’ll keep all of your Apple devices protected. If your device gets stolen, Hidden will track its location, take pictures of the thief and screenshots of what they’re currently doing on your computer, and log processes and keystrokes on your Mac so you can see exactly what apps the thief is using and what he’s typing. On an iOS device, Hidden will show a fake alarm that, when the thief tries to turn off, will launch the app to snap a picture and send it to you just like it would on the Mac, so you’ve got the same protection everywhere.
You can then login to your Hidden account online and see exactly where your device is on a map, complete with all the other data Hidden has collected about the thief. That gives you the info you need to inform law enforcement and hopefully get your device back. It’s the full-fledged protection your devices need that will give you the peace of mind to not worry about your devices disappearing.
We loved Hidden when we tried it out, and are certain you’ll love it as well. It’s an ingenious way to keep your devices protected.

Your Mac and iOS devices include the oddly named “Find my iPhone” service that’ll let you track and remotely wipe any of your Apple devices from your iCloud account. It’s a great service that’s already helped many work with law enforcement to get their devices back, and many more protect their data even when their device isn’t recoverable. But, of course, you’ve invested hundreds and even thousands of dollars into your devices, so it’d only make sense to do the best you can to make sure you can recover your devices if they’re ever stolen.
Hidden is a device tracking service we’ve reviewed several years ago, and found that it worked really great for tracking your device and more if it ever happened to get stolen. It automatically takes pictures of the thief and screenshots of what they’re doing on your Mac, and lets you see them online from anywhere along with a map of where your device currently is located. And now, with the just-released Hidden 2, it’ll track keystrokes and active processes on your stolen Mac, and works great on OS X Mavericks.
Most interestingly, it also works on iOS devices, so you can track your Mac, iPad, and iPhone all from the same Hidden account. On the Mac, of course, Hidden can run as a background process, but on iOS it doesn’t have the same freedoms. Instead, it uses the background location service on your iOS device to track your device if you report it as stolen, and then triggers a fake alarm notification on the device. When the thief tries to turn the alarm off, it’ll launch the app and take a photo of the thief, just like it would on the Mac. It’s an ingenious solution to track all of your devices with a bit more features than you’d get from Apple’s Find my iPhone.
And, this month, you can sign up for Hidden for 15% off — that’d let you track 1 device for just $1/month, or 5 devices for $3 month. Just sign up for the free trial, and use the coupon code NOVEMBER15 to keep your devices safe on the cheap. That’s a great way to keep your devices a bit safer.
Last summer, my MacBook was stolen. It had no protection, no password, no data encrypted, and the thief had access to all of my emails through Mail.app. I even found out that the thief, or the subsequent buyer of my beautiful Macbook, had been using my Instapaper account to bookmark his own webpages! (I have changed my password since).
After that horrible experience was over and I had my new Macbook, some of the first things that I did with it were increase its security, and look into theft-recovery apps.
Anti-theft apps, or theft-recovery apps, provide you with useful information, like location and IP address, once your computer gets lost or stolen. Some even give you access to your computer’s webcam, and a few take care of the whole recovery process of your Mac.
