Our featured sponsor this week is Chronicle Mini, the best free way to keep up on your bills from your menu bar.

Chronicle Mini is an amazing little app that sits in your menu bar and helps you stay on top of your reoccurring bills. In just a few clicks you can set up a new bill (say a mortgage payment or a cell phone bill), create a reminder in iCal and set the bill to repeat on the first of every month. When it comes time to pay the bill, Chronicle Mini can take you right to the appropriate website and upon payment will change the status of the bill to completed.

This app is incredibly helpful and is so simple that anyone can use it. Given that it’s completely free, there’s absolutely no reason not to download it. You can use Chronicle Mini perfectly as a standalone app, or if you really want to master your bills, it will work in conjunction with the full version of Chronicle.

Our featured sponsor this week is PopClip, an awesome utility that brings iOS style copy and paste functionality to your Mac.

On an iPhone or iPad, selecting text immediately brings up controls that allow you to perform functions on the selection such as copy, paste and define. As you can see in the screenshot to the right, PopClip brings this exact functionality to text selection on a Mac. It’s a great idea and the implementation is solid. I really love having these controls appear right in place and specifically find the define and spellcheck functions to be quite useful.

PopClip even goes beyond this functionality by providing search and link functionality. Clicking the magnifying glass will immediately search the selection on Google and clicking the link icon will open any links included in the selection in your default browser (or mail client if it’s an email address). Another feature that I really like is the ability to exclude PopClip from certain applications, so it’s only there when you want it to be.

Grab the Free Trial!

This is one utility that you can immediately appreciate the very first time you use it. To see for yourself, head over to the PopClip website to grab the free trial. Once you’re convinced, the full version can be purchased on the Mac App Store.

Our featured sponsor this week is Raven, an innovative new web browser that turns your favorite sites into apps.

Our full review of Raven outlines how much I thoroughly enjoy using this amazingly unique site-specific browser. The app’s Smart Bar allows you to effortlessly switch between your favorite websites and web apps in a way that makes them feel almost native. There’s even a dedicated AppStorm Raven App!

Although the new Raven web browser is only in beta, during the past four weeks they have introduced 50 new apps into their Web App Shop and are about to surpass 175,000 web apps installed into the Smart Bar. This means that a Web App is added to the Smart Bar by someone every 15 seconds!

Grab the Free Download!

Raven is changing the way people interact with the web. With it, you’ll love using Facebook, Twitter and your other favorite sites in a whole new way. If you haven’t already, it’s time to jump on board and head over to the Raven Website to grab your copy of this awesome and completely free utility.

Our featured sponsor this week is FreeSpace, a lightweight utility that helps you keep an eye on your disk space.

FreeSpace is a menubar utility that can show you how much space is available on all local, connected, network drives, and disk images with a single click. All the partitions and drives are grouped into their own categories. FreeSpace also allows you to eject all connected drives by 1 click on the menu, or eject individual drives by clicking an eject icon next to each drive name. FreeSpace comes with mount and eject indicator, which flashes on the menu bar when mounting or eject is complete.

There’s a lot to love about this little gem. It’s awesome to be able to manage your drives so easily right from the menu bar. My favorite feature is the ability to eject discs without switching to the desktop. FreeSpace also works great with Time Machine. When the Time Machine drive is plugged in, the free space is immediately shown on the menu. When Time Machine backup is complete, Free Space flashes an eject indicator to show that the drive has been safely ejected by Time Machine.

Go Get It!

FreeSpace is available in the Mac App Store for a mere $0.99! The developers could easily justify charging double or triple that so this price is really a steal. Stop by to grab your download today and instantly take control of your external drives.

Our sponsor this week is Finch, an amazing time tracking tool from Touch Studios.

Finch is an app that takes all the effort out of time tracking. If you can open it, you can use it! With virtually zero configuration, Finch sits quietly tucked away in your menu bar and collects data throughout the day. It monitors what windows and apps are active on the screen at any given time.

After reporting your usage for the day Finch will present you with a bar chart clearly displaying how you spent your time, or alternatively you can export straight to CSV to get control of your data (it’s yours after all).

Whether you are measuring your work hours in order to bill clients, trying to keep your time spent on Facebook under control, or just interested in seeing your usage habits, Finch is by far the best tool to quantify your activity.

Keep Your Data Private

Competing apps have a habit of uploading your content to their servers. Touch Studios, the authors of the app, will never have your data as it is stored locally on your own machine. Finch does not require an internet connection and is completely private.

Go Get It!

Finch is available on The Mac App Store for only $8.99. Go grab your copy today and start automating your time tracking activities!
