In my constant search for new apps that are worthy of a review, I stumbled across a pretty minimalistic to-do app called Done in the Mac App Store. After a few weeks of trying it out, I’ve found myself using it almost everyday and preferring it over my usual to-do app, Wunderlist.

This got me thinking about similar minimal to-do apps like Clear, and where they might fit in a workflow. Are they really necessary? Are they just surrounded by hype? Why would you pay for a premium for an app like this?

While Macs are more popular than they’ve ever been, Windows computers still form the majority of the market. Many of us, in fact, spend time using both, perhaps a Mac at home while on a PC at work. Working with others means even full time Mac users often needs to exchange files and data with users running Windows.

We’ve all been there. You are relaxing at home at night, when you suddenly remember you forgot to pick up something or pay the credit card. App developers know this too, and that’s why a whole method and app category was created around Getting Things Done (GTD). And while there are plenty of GTD apps that have come out in the recent years, few are like Wunderlist.

While most developers try to find more features to saturate their apps with, Wunderlist does a great job at keeping things simple, pretty and easy. Oh, and free. Are you sold on it yet, or do we have to keep talking?
