Macworld has always been a great place to network with your favorite app developers. There were even times when apple attended the conference and announced its own products. Now that those days have come and gone, it’s important to focus on the smaller companies, like Smile Software.

While at Macworld 2013, I spoke with Greg Scown and Jean MacDonald about the company’s history and latest developments. It’s the perfect follow-up to our previous interview with the company.

Over the past week, the AppStorm team has been hanging out in San Francisco at Macworld 2011. Despite scaling back a little this year (and changing the venue to Moscone West), Macworld is still faring well without Apple.

As also seemed to be the case at WWDC in recent years, a big emphasis was placed on iOS – and the associated apps and accessories. Thankfully, after wading through a sea of iPhone cases and stands (which I’m sure will be adequately covered on iPhone.AppStorm!), there was still plenty to see for those primarily interested in the Mac platform.

In today’s post I’ll be looking at a handful of my favourite apps, hardware, and announcements over the course week, along with sharing a few thoughts on our general experience at Macworld.

With Macworld 2011 slowly approaching, I thought it would be interesting to ask whether any of our readers have attended this conference previously (or are planning on going next year).

If you’re unaware of what Macworld is, essentially it’s a four day event that covers everything to do with the Mac. It includes user sessions focusing on teaching, an Expo floor for software exhibitors, various conference programmes, and generally lots of Mac-geekery! It’s based in San Francisco, running from the 26th-29th January.

Although Apple used to attend this event, the company pulled out prior to last year’s event. It seems that the 2010 conference was still a major success, despite their absence, and Macworld will be running once again next month.

The AppStorm team is going to be in attendance in January (a first for all of us!), and we’re really looking forward to meeting a few of you there. Let us know if you’ll be going in the comments!
